Veterinarians

Dr. Scott Smith, Veterinarian, Owner

Originally from Ohio, Dr. Scott Smith has been with West Branch Veterinary Services since March of 2003 and became a partner in 2006. Dr. Smith's undergraduate work was done at both the University of Dayton and the University of Missouri-Columbia, and was followed up with his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Missouri in 1995. Coming from a rural background, Dr. Smith grew up with hands-on experience in equine, bovine, ovine, caprine and avian agriculture. Today he keeps busy outside the office with a cross-section of the outdoor activities that northeast Michigan offers.

Dr. Charlotte Lucas, Veterinarian, Associate

Dr. Lucas is a 2011 graduate of MSU and is a West Branch native. She and her husband Josh look forward to moving back to our area in late May. West Branch Veterinary Services welcomes Dr. Lucas to our team!

Dr. Sara Bartlett, Veterinarian, Associate

Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Bartlett graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. She has worked in Michigan since graduation. Dr. Bartlett worked with farm and small animals but now does primarily small animal and some exotics. She enjoys traveling, horseback riding and raising minature horses. She is also the proud new parent of a new kitten as of November 2009!

Staff

Tina A, Practice Manager

Tina has worked in the veterinary field since 1991. She is a 1996 college graduate and continues annually to attend meetings, conferences and workshops in the veterinary field. She currently shares her home with her husband, Matt, their three dogs (GG, Titus, and Zima) and their three cats (Lightening, Smight and Cointreau). Tina loves the veterinary field and all of the great clients, patients, friends and colleagues she has met over the years. In her free time Tina enjoys reading, camping, traveling, hiking, listening to a variety of music, spending time with friends and bike riding. She is very proud to have a job that she loves in a field that has given her so many great people to work with and for.

Kelly S, Technical Staff Supervisor

Kelly started working in the veterinary field in 1996 and trained as an assistant in Traverse City. She moved back from Traverse City to the West Branch area in 1997 to here at the same time West Branch Veterinary Services was looking for an assistant. She has been working full time at West Branch Veterinary Services ever since. She has always loved animals, so helping them and making their lives better is very important to her. She has fostered animals for the Ogemaw County Humane Society before a shelter was built. She lives with her husband, Jeff, their four dogs (Cash, Zeke, Tanner and Sassy) and three cats (Little Man, Asti and Fiona). She loves gardening, camping, reading, and jogging with her dog, Cash.

Leann S, Veterinary Assistant

LeAnn worked for a doberman rescue mission in southern Michigan for about six years before coming to West Branch Veterinary Services. She has been an assistant here since January 2000 and says this is her dream job. LeAnn lives in the country with her husband Bill, three cats (Roman, Max and Hal), and Ripley the dog.

Christina D, Small/Large Animal Veterinary Assistant

Christina has been a full time employee of West Branch Veterinary Services since 2002, when she graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Animal Science. She has two boxers, Katie and Ellie, and one westie/husky mutt named Baci. She also has two quarter horses, Journey and Spencer, and a barn cat named Eloise.

Alyssa A, LVT

Alyssa has worked in vet clinics since she was a junior in high school, and says she would never want to do anything different, because veterinary work makes for such a rewarding career. She graduated from Columbia State in Tennessee in 2008 and worked in a clinic in Nashville for a short time before moving north to share her skills with WBVS. She has two dogs named Roxy and Mya, and two cats named Carl and Cosmo, all of which are rescues. She has a Standardbred/Quarter Horse named Chase, and besides riding she enjoys outdoor activities of all types, from dirt biking to camping and having family gatherings.

Sherry H, SA Receptionist

Sherry has worked with us since 1999 as a receptionist and currently as the front office supervisor. Sherry and her husband Jeff have a cat (Ringo) and three dogs — two golden retrievers (Dani and Buddy) and an Australian shepherd (Dusty). Dusty is our WBVS mascots that is seen a lot around our office. She likes reading with children, with her therapy dogs. She also enjoys tutoring, reading and working around the house with her husband.

Diane R, Large and Small Animal Receptionist and Billing Manager

Diane has been in the veterinary field since 1978 has been here since April, 2000. She has three dogs (Marwick, a doberman, Gabby, a german shorthaired pointer, and Cooper, a pomeranian) and several house and barn cats. She also has "Ben", a haflinger. Diane has been an L.V.T. for 18 years with several veterinary practices that have worked on exotic birds and wildlife. She has advanced training in client relations and accounts receivables. She enjoys draft horse driving, hiking, traveling and gardening. She enjoys living on 19 acres and driving her Haflinger on the adjacent state land.

Roxanne M, Receptionist

Roxanne has been a receptionist at WBVS since 2006. Her previous work experience has been in management in the human medical field. Just prior to coming to work for West Branch Veterinary Services she lived in Florida where she and her husband owned and operated a laundromat for eight years. Roxanne enjoys gardening, cooking, concerts, and touring the countryside with her husband. She shares her house with her husband and four cats (three of which she adopted since working at WBVS).

Katie H, LVT

Katie has worked with us since 2010. She graduated from Baker College of Cadillac in 2010 as a veterinary technician. Katie has three dogs (Zara, LuLu and Nellie) and three cats (Mimzy, Tot and Twix) as well as two horses (Charlie and Taz). Katie loves horseback riding, dirt biking, and spending time with her husband Tim and their son Carter.

Amber S, Veterinary Assistant and Kennel Supervisor

Amber has been with our team since 2012. She enjoys spending time with her family and has a true love for companion animals. Amber is recently engaged and is in the process of wedding planning at this time.
